The University of Wyoming, established in 1886, is a land-grant institution where innovative research and the pursuit of academic excellence take place within a safe, close-knit community. Just like the state of Wyoming, UW is both big and small. Wyoming, known worldwide for its beauty, is full of wide-open spaces and magnificent mountain ranges, and UW echoes these spaces in the scope of its innovation, its energetic ambition to better the global community, and its world-class facilities. Although Wyoming is the 10th-largest state in the USA, it has the smallest population, creating tight-knit communities around the state that band together for progress. In the same way, students and faculty at UW work together towards a greater future, meeting in small classes and enjoying a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio.

12,500 students representing all 50 US states and 92 countries come together between the Medicine Bow Mountains and Laramie Mountains in the beautiful Laramie Valley, studying in over 200 academic programs. Together, we celebrate the big and small things that make us great.
